Students participate in sustainability workshop at UTA

The Community Support Fund (FAC) hosted a Field Day at the Urban Agriculture Technical Unit (UTA), bringing together 40 fourth-grade students from the Professor José de Souza Municipal School. The event focused on sensory and pedagogical experiences regarding sustainability, soil preparation, food cultivation, and conscious waste disposal in urban environments.

The program included practical workshops and lectures led by professors from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) and the Catholic University Dom Bosco (UCDB). Students learned about soil fertility, organic composting, and the cultivation of Non-Conventional Food Plants (PANCs). Additionally, participants took part in a hands-on workshop where they prepared and tasted traditional Bolivian salteñas.

FAC President Adir Diniz emphasized the formative nature of the encounter, noting its importance for social responsibility and environmental education. Professor Ana Paula Araújo from UFMS highlighted that such practical learning helps children develop environmental and geographic awareness from a young age.
