Students poisoned by spiked soda at school in Paraná

Five students in the Luz Marina district of São Pedro do Iguaçu, Paraná, fell ill after consuming soda spiked with clonazepam, a controlled medication. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at a state school during a break.

According to police reports, a 17-year-old high school student allegedly mixed the medication into a soda bottle and shared it with classmates without their knowledge. The victims experienced various symptoms, including drowsiness, dizziness, intense malaise, and difficulty walking. One 15-year-old student suffered seizures and required emergency transport by SAMU to Hospital Bom Jesus in Toledo.

Authorities recovered bottles of clonazepam from the school premises. The Military Police and Civil Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and the origin of the substance. Local families have also raised concerns regarding the school's response time in notifying the Tutelary Council and emergency services.
