Students utilize AI for environmental and educational innovation
Students in Vietnam and China are gaining recognition for developing AI-driven solutions to environmental and educational challenges.
In Vietnam, Pham Ngoc Han and Nguyen Binh Kien from Ngo Quyen High School in Hai Phong won first prize at a national science and technology competition. Their project utilizes artificial intelligence to forecast emissions and create new adsorbent materials designed to capture and convert CO2, supporting Net Zero goals. The project integrates AI with simulation models to provide a multi-layered computational platform for studying CO2 conversion processes.
In China, 13-year-old Zhu Shuhan developed an AI application called ‘Zai Chang’ to assist with student focus. Using large language models, she created a virtual ‘parent’ that appears on screen to monitor study sessions via camera. If the application detects a student using a phone or leaving their seat, the virtual figure provides gentle voice reminders to refocus. Despite having minimal programming knowledge, the application became a commercial success, generating significant revenue shortly after its development.
