Students Worldwide Rely Heavily on AI for Studying

In Bhutan, university and college students are increasingly turning to artificial‑intelligence tools for everyday study tasks. They use AI to explain difficult concepts, generate mock exams, create flashcards, summarise chapters and organise revision schedules. Students report faster information retrieval and reduced frustration, while teachers caution that AI should complement, not replace, critical thinking and note‑taking skills.

A Docsity‑commissioned survey of 350 higher‑education students across the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand found that 91 % already use AI in their coursework. Respondents describe AI as a personal assistant that boosts productivity, especially when studying from home. The survey also highlighted challenges such as difficulty concentrating and the importance of video content as a learning source. Docsity’s COO emphasised that AI is a powerful ally, but warned against treating it as a shortcut or a substitute for traditional learning methods.
