Studentska lista campaigns in Serbia as Croatia proposes budget reforms
In Serbia, the Studentska lista political group is campaigning on platforms of anti-corruption, professionalizing public sector management, and implementing lustration laws. Candidate and former central bank governor Dejan Šoškić highlighted the group's academic credentials, noting they include over 140 doctors, and criticized the current administration for rising public debt and lack of transparency in major projects. The group advocates for the seizure of illegally acquired assets and the elimination of acting director positions in favor of public competitions.
In Croatia, the Ministry of Finance has proposed amendments to the Budget Law to align with new European fiscal frameworks. The changes include replacing annual stability programs with a four-year national medium-term fiscal-structural plan. Additionally, student representatives from several universities, including Osijek, Zagreb, and Rijeka, have issued an appeal to Minister Radovan Fuchs for the modernization of subsidized student meals, citing research that shows overwhelming student demand for more diverse and contemporary menu options.
