Studio web tool breach leads to potential data leaks in Japan

A security breach involving the external web production tool ‘Studio’ has resulted in the potential leakage of personal information for several Japanese entities.

Akatsuki Inc. reported that unauthorized access to Studio’s cloud environment allowed third parties to access data submitted through various inquiry and recruitment forms. The breach, which occurred between September 30 and October 1, 2026, potentially exposed the names, email addresses, phone numbers, and company details of up to 2,884 individuals and corporate representatives. Akatsuki confirmed that sensitive data, such as credit card numbers, bank accounts, and actual resume files, were not compromised.

Japan’s Digital Agency also announced a potential leak affecting information submitted via its website inquiry forms. The agency reported that the breach originated from the same Studio service used for site operations. The affected data includes names, email addresses, and inquiry contents submitted between May 2021 and March 2023. While no secondary damage or misuse of the information has been confirmed thus far, the agency has advised affected individuals to remain vigilant.
