Study examines link between sexual frequency and relationship satisfaction
A study published in the Journal of Family Psychology, led by Professor Franz J. Neyer of Friedrich Schiller University Jena, examined the relationship between sexual frequency and relationship satisfaction among German couples.
Analyzing data from over 2,100 heterosexual couples, primarily aged 20 to 39, the research found that 86 percent of respondents reported high satisfaction with their relationships, with an average frequency of sex once per week. In contrast, 3.6 percent of couples who had sex less than two to three times per month reported lower levels of satisfaction. Only 2.3 percent of couples reported being ‘highly satisfied’ despite having infrequent sexual activity.
