Stukenbrock memorial honors 65,000 victims of Stalag 326

Hundreds of anti-fascists gathered in Stukenbrock near Gütersloh for the annual “Blumen für Stukenbrock” memorial event. The gathering honored the 65,000 people murdered at Stalag 326, primarily prisoners from former Soviet Union states, as well as individuals from Poland, France, Italy, and the former Yugoslavia.

Speakers at the event included former state secretary Petra Erler and Russian Ambassador Sergej Netschajew. A representative from the SDAJ anti-fascist youth camp delivered a speech highlighting the inhumane conditions, forced labor, and starvation faced by prisoners at the site, specifically mentioning the death of a young Soviet boy named Kolja.
