Stuttgart court convicts Ukrainian man for Russian-linked sabotage plot

The Higher Regional Court of Stuttgart has convicted a Ukrainian national for agency activity in Germany. The individual was sentenced to one year and three months in prison for allegedly preparing arson attacks on behalf of Russian intelligence.

According to the Federal Prosecutor's Office, the defendant was part of a group of three Ukrainians involved in a sabotage plot targeting the transport routes of the Ukrainian parcel service Nova Post. In March 2025, the group allegedly sent two packages containing GPS trackers from Cologne toward Ukraine to monitor shipping routes and transport patterns.

The intended next step of the operation was to send packages equipped with incendiary devices. These devices were designed to ignite during transit, either within Germany or while traveling to non-Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine, to cause significant damage and undermine public security.

While the prosecution had sought prison sentences between two years and nine months and over four years, the court's ruling was notably lower. Two other Ukrainian defendants involved in the case were acquitted by the court.
