Slovak television stations prepare autumn crime drama season

Slovak television stations are preparing for a competitive autumn season with new crime drama series.

TV Markíza has officially revealed details for its new series, ‘Hriech’ (Sin), which is an international adaptation of the American format ‘The Sinner’. Premiering on September 7 at 20:30, the eight-episode series stars Kristína Svarinská and Ady Hajdu. The plot focuses on a woman who commits a murder in front of witnesses, shifting the narrative focus from ‘who did it’ to ‘why it was done’.

STVR aims to gain a competitive advantage by launching its new crime series, ‘Vraždy v dolinách’ (Murders in the Valleys), earlier than its rivals. The 13-episode production is set in the Liptov region and is scheduled to premiere on August 31 at 20:30. The series features Ján Dobrík, Martin Nahálka, and Kristína Spáčová as a team of investigators.

This programming shift sets up a direct competition for Monday evening slots between STVR, Markíza, and TV JOJ, as the latter also prepares a new series for September.
