STVR announces programming changes and budget-driven shifts

Slovak Radio and Television (STVR) is implementing significant programming changes as part of its centenary celebrations. The broadcaster is introducing new dramatic series, premiere shows, and a refreshed visual identity. Rádio Slovensko will also return to familiar formats, including news and publicist programs, while increasing the connection between regional studios.

Due to economic constraints and a budget reduction of two million euros, STVR has announced a departure from its traditional Christmas programming. Instead of the high-budget historical fairy tales that have become a cultural staple, the broadcaster will produce a Christmas film. Peter Begányi, acting as the head of STV, noted that the current financial situation makes large-scale costume productions difficult, opting instead for a more modern and accessible approach to holiday storytelling.
