STVR suspends popular series “Srdcia” for holiday broadcast and World Cup final

Slovak public broadcaster STVR announced that the Italian period drama “Srdcia” will not be shown on Sunday 5 July. The prime‑time slot will instead carry a live transmission of the Saints Cyril and Methodius celebration from Devín Castle, organized by the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic.

A second interruption is scheduled for Sunday 19 July, when STVR will broadcast the live final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup rather than the series.

From August onward, the network will alter the programme’s rhythm: instead of two episodes per Sunday, only one episode will be aired each week, extending the run of the three‑season, 40‑episode series through September. “Srdcia” has been a summer hit, regularly attracting 200,000‑260,000 viewers per episode and ranking among the most‑watched non‑news programmes on Slovak television.
