Styria and Tyrol expand healthcare cooperation

The Austrian states of Styria and Tyrol are deepening their cooperation in the healthcare sector to improve patient support through innovative care models. Styrian Health Councilor Karlheinz Kornhäusl met with his Tyrolean counterpart, Cornelia Hagele, in Innsbruck to discuss cross-border medical integration.

The discussions focused on telemedicine, integrated care, and the exchange of expertise to provide more localized and targeted services. A key part of the visit included a tour of the Landesinstitut für Integrierte Versorgung (LIV) Tirol, which serves as a model for cross-sectoral healthcare. Successful projects such as HerzMobil and teledermatology were highlighted as areas of existing and potential collaboration.

Officials emphasized that healthcare should not be limited by state borders. The goal is to better align medical services with patient needs by fostering closer cooperation between hospitals, outpatient doctors, nursing services, and rehabilitation facilities.
