Styria mountain rescue faces record number of uninjured hikers rescued

The Bergrettung Steiermark in Austria reports an all‑time high number of uninjured hikers being rescued this season. The surge reflects a rise in poorly prepared hikers who become lost or stranded on the peaks.

Experts warn that hot weather, sudden thunderstorms and misjudged routes cause circulatory problems and dangerous situations. Rescue spokesperson Enrico Radaelli said, "Viele sind schlecht vorbereitet" (Many are poorly prepared), and urged both hobbyists and professional alpinists to follow safety tips to avoid rescue incidents.
