Styria named Europe’s top wine region as Paris leads best cities list

Styria, located in northeastern Slovenia, has been named the best wine region in Europe for 2027 by European Best Destinations. The organization evaluated over 90 areas based on wine tradition, grape varieties, landscapes, gastronomy, hospitality, sustainability, and accessibility. Styria received 19.5 out of 20 points. Notable features include Maribor’s 450-year-old vine, historical cellars in Ptuj, and the heart-shaped vineyard road in Špičnik. The Langhe-Roero-Monferrato region in Piedmont, Italy, secured second place.

In separate travel rankings, Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards named Paris the best European city for 2026, followed by Istanbul in second and Valletta in third. Among the top 20 cities, two Croatian destinations were recognized: Dubrovnik ranked 15th for its historic walls and Adriatic views, while Rovinj placed 17th for its picturesque old town and cultural offerings.
