Su Qiaohui defends stance on kindergarten medication case

Political tensions have escalated in New Taipei City regarding a past kindergarten medication incident. Su Chuan-chen, chairman of the Chinese Early Childhood Education Association and head of a support group for Li Szechuan, criticized Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) mayoral candidate Su Qiaohui for her refusal to apologize for her handling of the case.

Su Chuan-chen alleged that Su Qiaohui’s characterization of the event as a “poisoning case” damaged trust between teachers and parents, leading to staff resignations. He contrasted her stance with that of Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, whom he praised for committing to improve early childhood education issues.

In response, Su Qiaohui stated that the controversy arose because the New Taipei City Government itself announced the detection of drug residues. She maintained that her actions were a legitimate part of her duty as a representative to advocate for children and urged opponents not to distort facts for electoral purposes. The campaign for Li Szechuan has also criticized Su Qiaohui, claiming she has failed to apologize to those she allegedly smeared.
