Su Qiaohui faces scrutiny over family investment controversy

The Kuomintang (KMT) legislative group has criticized Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Qiaohui following a BBC report regarding her family’s involvement in investment controversies related to Kuangshi Intelligence. KMT spokesperson Hung Meng-kai questioned the use of taxpayer money, specifically regarding why the National Development Fund and the Small and Medium Enterprise Credit Guarantee Fund invested in companies linked to Su’s family.

Hung noted that these investments have reportedly suffered significant losses, affecting the national treasury. The KMT has called for Su to provide a clear explanation regarding the relationship between the fund losses and her family’s business interests, arguing that the issue of integrity and family interest avoidance is a critical standard for voters as the election approaches.

Separately, a recent poll by Mirror News indicates Su Qiaohui holds a 47.7% support rate, leading candidate Li Sichuan, who has 32.8%. The poll also shows that 42.4% of respondents view Su as more likely to win the mayoral race, while 58.4% consider her suitable for the role.
