Suadesa Festival 2026 promotes traditional arts in Sleman

The Suadesa Festival 2026, organized by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), a sub-holding of Pertamina, was held over two days in the Tiyasan area of Condongcatur, Sleman. The event served as a platform for local communities to showcase, introduce, and preserve traditional arts.

Cultural activities began on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with a procession featuring agricultural offerings (gunungan hasil bumi), Bregodo Lombok Abang, and a parade of female warriors. On Sunday, August 23, the Seni Kasidah Badui Walisongo Gandok Tambakan group performed, featuring 16 dancers, 12 musicians, and five vocalists. The group performed eight songs, including religious tracks and the national song ‘Hari Merdeka’.

Mukholid Hidayat, head of the Seni Kasidah Badui Walisongo group, noted that their performance is a unique religious art form with distinct dance movements specific to the Sleman Regency. Local artists expressed that the festival provides a vital opportunity to promote local culture and secure regular performance spaces. The event also featured national musicians such as The Rain and Jikustik, while supporting local MSMEs and culinary activities.
