Suahasil Nazara appointed Indonesia Minister of Finance
President Prabowo Subianto has officially appointed Suahasil Nazara as the new Minister of Finance, replacing Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. The inauguration took place at the State Palace in Jakarta on September 14, 2026. Suahasil, who previously served as Deputy Finance Minister, is tasked with maintaining the credibility and health of the State Budget (APBN) and ensuring the fiscal deficit remains below 3 percent.
Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa’s tenure lasted approximately one year and six days. During his leadership, Indonesia saw economic growth reach 5.61 percent in the first quarter of 2026, though his term was also marked by volatility in the rupiah and stock markets. Before his replacement, Purbaya had conducted a significant reshuffle of approximately 350 to 400 senior officials within the Ministry of Finance.
