Suardiaz Group adds LNG-powered RS Atlantico to its fleet
Suardiaz Group has introduced the RS Atlantico, the first of a new series of Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessels, to its fleet. Delivered from China, the vessel is powered by dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology, making Suardiaz the first Spanish shipowner to operate an LNG-powered vessel in the car carrier segment.
The RS Atlantico has a capacity for approximately 5,500 vehicles, a gross tonnage of 55,000, and a length of 190 meters. It is designed to transport automobiles, machinery, and High & Heavy cargo. The vessel is expected to enter service in the final quarter of 2026, with a second similar vessel scheduled for mid-2027.
This expansion is part of a broader growth strategy involving over 360 million euros in investment over the last six years. The group's plan includes fleet renewal across various sectors, such as chemical tankers and offshore vessels, alongside investments in logistics infrastructure and multimodal transport solutions.
