Suba University Multicampus faces significant construction delays
The Multicampus Universitario de Suba, a major public higher education infrastructure project in Bogotá, is facing severe construction delays. According to the Ministry of National Education and the Presidential Management for Bogotá, the project has seen significant deviations from its schedule. As of September 2026, Lot 1 reported a 52% delay in execution, while Lot 2 recorded a 73% delay compared to the established timeline. The overall physical progress of the project is estimated at 27%.
Clara Lucía Sandoval, the Presidential Manager for Bogotá, has expressed the government's intention to unblock and accelerate the works to benefit local youth. She announced that the first complete module is expected to be delivered by December 15. The project had missed its original delivery deadline of August 3, 2026, and a subsequent rescheduled date in September.
Political leaders, including Senator Carlos Eduardo Guevara and Councilman Fabián Puentes, have criticized the delays and the lack of definitive contracts for the final stages of the work. They have called for greater transparency and guarantees to ensure that the infrastructure can effectively serve the community's academic needs.
