Sunway Lagoon roller coaster accident injures 10 visitors
A roller coaster accident at Sunway Lagoon in Subang Jaya resulted in minor injuries to 10 individuals, including local citizens and foreign tourists. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM on a Saturday, involving 22 riders aged between 11 and 44 years.
Sunway Group founder Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah confirmed the incident, expressing regret and noting that no lives were lost. He suggested the cause might be metal fatigue and stated that authorities are conducting a detailed investigation. He also noted that there were no signs of sabotage or malicious intent.
Subang Umno-BN chief Armand Azha Abu Hanifah has called for a full explanation from the park operator and an independent investigation into the ride’s maintenance and safety compliance. He urged for the ride to remain halted until its safety is verified.
