Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X Touring debut as upgraded electric SUVs

Subaru has refreshed its 2022‑launched Solterra electric SUV for the 2026 model year, adding a more mature exterior, a 14‑inch horizontal touchscreen, a multi‑terrain monitor, and a power increase from 160 kW to 252 kW (343 PS). The vehicle retains a 211 mm ground clearance and offers up to 1,600 L of cargo space with seats folded, aiming to improve range, charging speed and value perception after earlier criticism.

Toyota showcased three new electrified models at an event in Austria. The bZ4X Touring, a larger family‑oriented EV, uses a 71 kWh battery, delivers 224–380 PS depending on drivetrain, and promises WLTP ranges of 479–591 km. The updated RAV4 remains Toyota’s best‑selling model worldwide, while the Hilux Electric marks the first battery‑powered version of the brand’s rugged pickup. Toyota’s “multi‑path” strategy continues to offer battery EVs, hybrids, plug‑in hybrids, 48‑volt hybrids and future fuel‑cell models across its lineup.
