Subaru expands electric vehicle lineup and evolves boxer engine technology
Subaru is advancing its automotive technology through both engine evolution and a significant expansion into the electric vehicle (EV) market. The company continues to develop its signature boxer engine, transitioning from the e-Boxer micro-hybrid system to the new S:HEV system. This new hybrid setup utilizes a 2.5-liter Miller cycle boxer engine paired with two electric motors and symmetric all-wheel drive, a move expected to align with Euro 7 emissions standards.
In addition to hybrid developments, Subaru is launching three new electric models: the Solterra, the Uncharted, and the E-Outback. The Uncharted is a compact electric SUV offered in three versions, with one variant reaching up to 343 horsepower and a range exceeding 592 kilometers. The Solterra, the brand’s flagship electric SUV, has been updated with improved performance and a 73.1 kWh battery capable of a 550-kilometer range. The E-Outback also debuts as a fully electric model featuring dual motors producing 376 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive.
