Subaru launches Trailseeker electric SUV in Australia, touting off‑road performance

Subaru has introduced its third electric vehicle, the Trailseeker, to the Australian market. The five‑seat SUV is built on a badge‑engineered platform shared with Toyota, delivers 280 kW of power, 536 Nm of torque and a WLTP‑claimed range of 533 km from a 75 kWh battery. Standard features include dual‑motor Symmetrical All‑Wheel Drive, X‑Mode off‑road modes, a 14‑inch touchscreen, digital rear‑view mirror and a 220‑V vehicle‑to‑load outlet. A 2,000‑km Australian road‑trip test highlighted the model’s rugged capabilities versus the Tesla Model Y, emphasizing higher ground clearance, off‑road torque control and a lower entry price. In the United States the Trailseeker is listed at about US$40,000, undercutting the Model Y by roughly US$9,000 while offering a larger, more adventure‑oriented package.
