Subaru Levorg expected to undergo full model change in 2027

The next generation of Subaru’s Levorg sports wagon is projected to debut in the latter half of 2027. While Subaru has not made an official announcement, industry expectations suggest a significant powertrain overhaul featuring the S:HEV strong hybrid system.

The S:HEV system, which utilizes a 2.5L boxer engine paired with dual motors in a series-parallel configuration, is expected to follow the implementation seen in the Levorg Layback. This shift could lead to improved fuel efficiency, with the Layback S:HEV model reportedly achieving 19.0 km/L compared to 14.1 km/L for the 1.8L turbo variant.

A key point of speculation is whether Subaru will retain the high-performance 2.4L turbo engine for specific grades or transition entirely to hybrid technology. If both are offered, the hybrid would likely serve standard trims for efficiency, while the turbo engine would cater to performance enthusiasts. Changes in powertrain may also influence exterior design, specifically regarding the presence of hood air scoops used for turbo intercoolers.
