Subaru updates Chiffon kei car with enhanced safety features

Subaru has announced an updated version of its Chiffon kei car, with prices starting from 1,496,000 yen. The improvements focus on enhancing the ‘Smart Assistdriver assistance system and refining exterior design options.

The upgraded collision avoidance braking system now includes detection for crossing bicycles, oncoming vehicles during right turns at intersections, and pedestrians crossing from opposite directions during turns. Additionally, the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) has been improved with extended detection range and higher precision to ensure smoother acceleration and deceleration, while also reducing swaying during Lane Keep Control (LKC) operation.

Design updates include the addition of ‘Smooth Gray Mica Metallic’ and two-tone color options. Certain grades will now feature black accents on the power-folding mirrors, door handles, and 14-inch aluminum wheels. For the Chiffon Custom ‘RS’ grade, the ‘Smart Cruise Pack’—which includes ACC, LKC, and Cornering Trace Assist—is now included as standard equipment. The Chiffon is an OEM model based on the Daihatsu Tanto, with a planned sales volume of 260 units per month.
