Subaru updates Crosstrek with e-BOXER strong hybrid across all grades

Subaru has announced a significant update to its Crosstrek compact crossover SUV, transitioning the entire lineup to the e-BOXER strong hybrid system. This update eliminates previous gasoline-only and mild hybrid grades, making electrification the standard across all models.

The new e-BOXER system utilizes a 2.5L four-cylinder boxer engine paired with a hybrid system that integrates Toyota Hybrid System technology. This configuration allows for optimized energy use through series-parallel operation, including an EV drive mode for low-speed or quiet driving. The update achieves a fuel efficiency of 19.5 km/L under WLTC mode and features a larger 63L fuel tank compared to previous mild hybrid versions.

Additional enhancements include updated exterior details such as black roof rails and revised e-BOXER badging, along with a new Ignition Red color option. Subaru has also revised its factory-installed options, adding a Harman Kardon sound system to the Premium S:HEV EX grade and navigation functionality to the Premium S:HEV grade.
