Subaru updates Pleo Plus with new engine and safety features

Subaru has announced a partial improvement to its Pleo Plus compact kei car, effective September 10, 2026. The updated model, which is supplied via OEM by Daihatsu, features a new generation engine designed to increase maximum output and torque while improving fuel efficiency. The WLTC mode fuel consumption is rated at 27.0 km/L for 2WD models and 24.4 km/L for 4WD models.

Safety enhancements include an upgraded ‘Smart Assist’ system with collision warning and avoidance braking that functions at night. The system now detects bicycles crossing the path, vehicles during right turns, and pedestrians crossing from the left or right. Additional safety features include lane departure warnings and improved misapplication prevention for pedals.

Interior updates include a redesigned analog speedometer for better visibility and revised controls for the automatic air conditioning in higher-end grades. The vehicle is available in F and L grades, with prices starting from approximately 1.1 million yen.
