SUBE payment system faces technical failures in Argentina

The SUBE electronic payment system for public transport in Argentina is experiencing intermittent technical failures, affecting thousands of users' ability to load and credit balances. The issues, which began appearing as early as Wednesday, have impacted the mobile application, service windows, and automatic terminals.

According to official statements, the disruptions are caused by “connectivity network failures, external to SUBE.” These technical problems have limited the functionality of station terminals, which in some cases only allow users to check their balance rather than credit new funds. This has caused significant complications for commuters, particularly in the AMBA region where state-run train services rely almost exclusively on the SUBE card, as they do not accept digital wallets or credit cards.

Authorities have advised users not to repeat transactions if a load fails, as delays in processing may occur. For those with compatible devices, credit can still be attempted via the SUBE App using NFC technology or through the ‘Carga a Bordo’ system on certain bus lines. Work is ongoing to normalize the service.
