Subic Bay Freeport named Destination of the Year

Subic Bay Freeport has been named the ‘Destination of the Year’ for 2025 at the 7th Philippine Sports Tourism Awards. The ceremony took place on August 24, 2026, at the Manila Marriott Hotel.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño accepted the award alongside Tourism Department Manager Mary Jamelle Camba and Division Chief Raquel J. Delos Reyes. The recognition follows a year of hosting significant international and local sporting events, including the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay, which attracted more than 1,000 athletes in June 2025.

Aliño stated that the SBMA aims to continue pushing the boundaries of sports tourism to maintain the Freeport’s status as a premier destination in the Philippines. The award was presented by officials from the Philippine Sports Tourism Alliance, the Philippine Sports Commission, and the Department of Tourism.
