Subnautica 2 receives second Early Access update and ocean conservation donation

Unknown Worlds, a creative studio under KRAFTON, has released the second Early Access update for the underwater survival game ‘Subnautica 2’. This update focuses on enhancing the cooperative gameplay experience through several new features.

Key technical additions include proximity voice chat with spatial audio, which adjusts volume and direction based on player distance, and a new revive system that allows downed players to be brought back to health by teammates. To improve teamwork, the update also introduces emotes for non-verbal communication, direct access to teammates' inventories for resource sharing, and improved ping and location tagging systems.

Alongside the software update, Unknown Worlds announced a $100,000 donation to ‘The Ocean Cleanup’, a non-profit organization dedicated to removing plastic pollution from the world's oceans. Executive Producer Fernando Melo noted that the donation continues a commitment to ocean conservation that began with the original Subnautica title.
