Subotica City Assembly debates 2026 mid-year budget execution
The Subotica City Assembly has adopted the budget execution report for the first six months of 2026. During this period, the city recorded revenues of 5.4 billion dinars, representing a 25 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The report sparked debate between the ruling majority and the opposition regarding spending priorities. Luka Vučinac of the Green-Left Front criticized the allocation of funds, claiming that despite budget provisions, zero dinars were used for kindergarten reconstruction and questioning the profitability of certain enterprises.
In contrast, Janoš Nagel of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians praised the budget realization, noting that upcoming projects will allow all children in Subotica to access daycare for the first time. Additionally, Veljko Vojnić of the Serbian Progressive Party highlighted that budget execution has consistently remained above 95 percent in recent years.
