Subotica Half Marathon draws record 1,524 participants

The ninth Subotica Half Marathon in Serbia drew a record 1,524 participants, including professional athletes and recreational runners from across the region and the world. In the main 21.1 km race, Hungary’s Peter Silađi took first place with a time of 1:17:42, followed by Oleg Tcykal from Georgia and Mihajlo Bolić from Subotica. The women’s 21.1 km race was won by local runner Nora Trklja Boca with a time of 1:24:10.

Other race categories saw diverse winners: Jurij Kotov from Russia won the 10 km men’s race, while Čila Bognar won the women’s 10 km. The 5 km satisfaction race was won by Romanian representative Denis Firulović. The event featured a wide age range, including 77-year-old Vladislav Špajzer as the oldest competitor.

Additionally, the Somaraton Athletic and Recreational Club reported an active weekend of competitions. Members participated in races in Slovakia, Kraljevo, and Subotica. In Slovakia, Đorđe Munjas placed 15th overall in a triathlon in Zahorská Bystrica. The club also continues to organize local training sessions in Sombor to prepare for upcoming events like the ‘Dame trče’ race scheduled for October 25.
