Subred Sur Occidente enables walk-in cancer screening for women

The Subred Integrada de Servicios de Salud Sur Occidente has implemented a new strategy to facilitate early detection of cervical and breast cancer by allowing women to undergo cytology exams without a prior appointment.

The initiative specifically targets residents of the Bosa, Kennedy, Fontibón, and Puente Aranda localities who are affiliated with the EPS providers Capital Salud, Sanitas, Famisanar, and Coosalud. Under the new protocol, women aged 25 to 29 who have not had a cytology in the last three years, and women aged 30 to 65 who have not had screening in the last five years, can access services directly.

To support this effort, 23 health centers in southwestern Bogotá will provide services Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Health officials are also prioritizing access to mammographies and colposcopies to reduce missed follow-up appointments.
