Subtenente Jerry Kildery Araújo da Silva shot dead in São José de Mipibu, Rio Grande do Norte

Reserve subtenente of the Rio Grande do Norte Military Police, Jerry Kildery Araújo da Silva, was shot dead on the morning of Sunday, 2 May, while walking with his dogs on a rural property (Granja Sítio Malhada) in the district of Manibu, São José de Mipibu, RN, Brazil.

Preliminary police information says the assailant opened fire, fled the scene and took the officer’s firearm. The commander‑general of the PMRN ordered the Metropolitan Policing Command and the Central Intelligence Agency to deploy all available operational resources, and the Civil Police were also notified. The investigation remains ongoing and no arrests have been reported.

The PMRN issued a statement expressing deep sorrow, highlighting the officer’s years of service and extending solidarity to his family, friends and colleagues.
