Suceava advances regional cooperation and tourism development

The Suceava Regional Cross-Border Cooperation Office (BRCT) hosted a delegation from the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine on September 10–11, 2026. Led by Lyudmyla Sirko, Vice President of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration, the delegation included representatives from local administrations and ten territorial communities. The visit, part of the Swiss-funded ‘IF-FOCUS’ project, focused on strengthening bilateral relations and identifying European funding opportunities through cross-border cooperation mechanisms.

In a separate regional development initiative, the Suceava County Council held a working meeting regarding the VIA MOLDAVIA route. The discussion centered on the ‘Suceava Fortress – Suceava Municipality’ micro-destination, aiming to integrate the Bucovina destination into a broader regional, national, and international tourism network. The project seeks to structure local tourism offerings—including accommodation, services, and cultural heritage—into coherent routes that connect various micro-destinations across the North, Center, and South routes.
