Suceava Council Approves 500‑Spot Parking Facility and Buys Former La Coțet Restaurant

The Suceava City Council approved a feasibility study to develop a parking lot with 500 spaces on the former Cartodrom garage site and voted to purchase the land of the former La Coțet restaurant to continue the urban‑regeneration project. The council also debated whether the new parking will be fee‑based; Mayor Vasile Rîmbu said the decision on charges will be taken after the investment is completed.

Earlier, PSD councilors had supported a regulation that set an annual residential parking subscription at 500 lei. After Mayor Rîmbu was suspended from the PSD, the same councillors introduced a proposal to cut the fee to 100 lei per year, along with a roughly 20% reduction in general parking subscriptions, a change to paid‑parking hours (08:00‑16:00), and compensation measures for those who already paid the higher rate.
