Suceava, Romania hit by magnitude 3.1 earthquake

A magnitude 3.1 earthquake occurred in Suceava County, Romania, on Friday morning at 04:09:39 local time. According to the National Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP), the tremor originated at a depth of 21.4 kilometers.

The epicenter was located approximately 34 km south of Suceava, 58 km south of Piatra Neamț, 65 km south of Botoșani, and 87 km south of Roman. This event is part of a series of seismic activities in the country; 12 earthquakes with magnitudes ranging between 2 and 4.1 have been recorded in Romania since the beginning of September.

Earlier this month, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded in the Vrancea-Buzău seismic zone on September 6.
