Sucker Punch Productions conducts layoffs at Bellevue studio

Sucker Punch Productions, the Sony-owned developer behind the Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei series, has reportedly laid off between 24 and 26 employees. The staffing reductions affect approximately 11% to 13% of the studio's workforce, which is estimated to be between 160 and 230 people.

According to internal emails obtained by various outlets, the decision was driven by “challenges in the market” and a review of the team requirements for the studio’s next unannounced project. Leadership stated that the decision was not made lightly and that they are working to support affected colleagues during the transition. The studio has promised to provide more details regarding its future roadmap next week.

The layoffs come despite the recent commercial success of Ghost of Yotei, which reportedly sold millions of units and was one of PlayStation’s top-performing titles. The cuts follow the recent release of the Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition and its Echoes of Sekigahara expansion.
