Sudan accuses UAE of undermining justice amid foreign intervention claims

The conflict in Sudan is being fueled by external actors providing support to opposing factions, according to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio noted that the ongoing violence between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) would not persist without active participation from foreign entities. He described the humanitarian situation as “catastrophic and horrifying,” emphasizing the difficulty of establishing secure zones for aid delivery due to broken agreements.

Simultaneously, Sudan has formally challenged the United Arab Emirates' role in the region. During a United Nations conference, Sudanese Attorney General Intisar Abdel-Aal rejected the UAE's hosting of a crime prevention conference, accusing Abu Dhabi of undermining international law by supporting the RSF. The Sudanese government alleges that the UAE provides sophisticated weaponry and political backing to the group, thereby prolonging the conflict and facilitating violations of international humanitarian law.

On the ground, reports indicate continued violence and destruction, including allegations from the Sudanese Doctors Network that the RSF looted and destroyed the primary hospital in the city of Sodari.
