Sudanese officials are conducting high-level diplomatic missions to secure development funding and investment for the country’s reconstruction following the conflict that began in April 2023.

In Kuwait, Sudanese Minister of Finance and Planning Jibril Ibrahim and Central Bank Governor Amna Mirghani met with Kuwaiti officials, including the Kuwait Investment Authority and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. Discussions focused on resuming development financing, supporting recovery projects, and facilitating banking transactions. Key sectors identified for potential Kuwaiti investment include agriculture, food security, mining, and infrastructure.

Additionally, the Sudanese delegation met with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development to discuss strengthening financial cooperation and addressing outstanding obligations to pave the way for new development projects.

In Egypt, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Jibril Ibrahim to discuss bilateral economic cooperation and infrastructure rehabilitation, particularly in transport and the medical sector. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the need for a Sudanese-led political settlement.
