Sudan and Indonesia seek to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation

Sudanese Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Hassan Daoud Kayan met with Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin in Jakarta to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation. During the meeting, Sudan expressed interest in resuming military training cooperation, specifically seeking opportunities for Sudanese personnel to participate in educational and training programs in Indonesia.

Minister Kayan emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two nations, stating that “everyone who is hostile to Indonesia is an enemy of Sudan, and Sudan's enemies are Indonesia's enemies.” The discussions covered several areas of potential collaboration, including human resource capacity building, personnel and cadet exchanges, and cooperation between defense educational institutions. The Sudanese minister noted that the two countries share similarities in religion and culture, which further bolsters their strategic partnership.
