Sudan Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem visits Turkey

Sudan's Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem travelled to Turkey in April 2026 to attend the Fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum and is slated for a second visit in late July 2026 to meet Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The talks will underline Turkey's support for Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and discuss measures for lasting peace and stability in Sudan.

The agenda includes signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Turkey’s Diplomatic Academy and Sudan’s Diplomacy Institute, expanding cooperation on diplomatic training. Turkey has continued humanitarian assistance, delivering about 12,000 tons of aid supplies and 30,000 tents since summer 2024, and bilateral trade reached roughly US$390 million in 2025. Diplomatic ties date back to 1957, with a High‑Level Strategic Cooperation Council created after President Erdoğan’s 2017 visit.
