Sudanese authorities have lifted the curfew and state of emergency in Khartoum, ending restrictions that had been in place for nearly two years due to the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The decision was made by the Khartoum State Security Affairs Coordination Committee during a meeting led by Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza. While the lifting of the curfew allows residents to move and work at any time, security measures remain active. Authorities have instructed citizens to carry identification during late-night hours, and security checkpoints and patrols will continue to operate throughout the capital.

New restrictions have been implemented regarding foreign nationals. Foreigners are prohibited from entering Khartoum via public or private transport, including buses, trains, and private vehicles, unless they possess valid entry visas or permits.

The easing of restrictions follows recent military developments in the region. The conflict, which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced an estimated 13 million people, according to United Nations estimates.
