Sudan peace roadmap proposed by U.S. amid ongoing military developments

Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs to the U.S. President, has announced a new peace roadmap for Sudan. The plan, developed in coordination with regional and international partners, proposes a three-month humanitarian truce as an initial step, followed by a ceasefire and a transition to civilian governance.

Boulos emphasized that there is no military solution to the conflict and noted that the U.S. is applying pressure through sanctions on entities providing military support to combatants. He also highlighted that the Trump administration has reviewed previous findings regarding chemical weapons use in Sudan, maintaining the prior conclusion on the matter. To support humanitarian relief, the U.S. has contributed $375 million to UNOCHA and the World Food Programme.

On the battlefield, the Sudanese Army reports significant developments. In the Blue Nile region, the military successfully intercepted a long-range drone belonging to the Rapid Support Forces. Additionally, the army has made territorial gains in North Kordofan, reclaiming the strategic Al-Jamama area and advancing toward the Darfur border, forcing Rapid Support Forces to retreat from several localities.
