Sudan war causes mass casualties and economic collapse

A drone strike in Al-Dabab, West Kordofan, killed over 100 people and injured approximately 120 others on Sunday, October 18. Local groups and relatives reported that the strike hit a crowded market, though some accounts suggest the target was a truck carrying people. The Tasis alliance, which supports the Rapid Support Forces, has blamed the Sudanese army for the attack.

In Khartoum, drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces killed four people, including three children, on Monday.

Parallel to the escalating violence, Sudan is facing a severe economic crisis. The ongoing conflict has caused the Sudanese pound to plunge, leading to hyperinflation and a shortage of foreign currency. The cost of essential goods has risen sharply; for example, the price of sugar has nearly doubled, and transportation costs have quadrupled. These economic pressures are significantly impacting the ability of families to afford basic staples like bread, lentils, and meat.
