Sudanese activists challenge AU initiative as Iraq seeks energy solutions

The Sudanese Women's Network has called on the African Union to withdraw its support for a ‘Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue’ initiative proposed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. The network warned that the initiative could serve to grant political legitimacy to the military leadership and empower remnants of the former regime. They argued that any political process must be preceded by a ceasefire and civilian protection, emphasizing that the military leader, as a primary party to the conflict, cannot act as an independent mediator.

In Iraq, Mohammed al-Sudani, head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, met with Siemens' Iraq manager, Muhannad al-Saffar, to discuss enhancing cooperation in infrastructure and the electricity sector. The discussions focused on current progress in power plants, maintenance networks, and future plans to utilize modern technologies and associated gas for energy production. While the meeting aims to stabilize the energy sector through international expertise, Iraqi citizens continue to await tangible improvements in daily electricity supply.
