Sudanese nationals return from Egypt to Sudan via voluntary program
The Al-Amal Committee for Voluntary Return has facilitated the departure of 882 Sudanese nationals from Cairo, Egypt, to Sudan. The group traveled via 18 buses departing from the Abdeen area.
Hassan Khalid Idris, the committee's rapporteur, stated that these returnees are expected to contribute to reconstruction and stability efforts within Sudan. The initiative also focuses on the academic sector, with ongoing arrangements to transport approximately 15,000 university students and 500 professors to return for the new academic year.
Since the conflict began in April 2023, over 1.2 million Sudanese have fled to Egypt. According to Ambassador Abdel Qader Abdullah, approximately 428,676 people had voluntarily returned to Sudan by the end of 2025 through various initiatives, including dedicated train services.
