Sudanese voluntary return program transports 1,225 citizens from Cairo

The Al-Amal Committee for Voluntary Return announced on Saturday, October 24, 2026, the deployment of 25 buses to transport 1,225 Sudanese citizens from Cairo back to Sudan. The group includes general education students, civil service employees, and their families.

Committee Chairman Mohammed Wadaa stated that the current priority is the repatriation of civil servants to enable them to resume duties within state institutions, including the judiciary, the ministries of justice and livestock, the civil aviation authority, and the national radio and television service. This initiative follows recent directives from Prime Minister Kamel Idris to stabilize families and support community development.

This movement follows previous repatriation efforts, including the transport of 882 citizens in early October and over 4,000 individuals in September. Since the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces began in April 2023, an estimated 1.2 million Sudanese have fled to Egypt.
